I am having a similar problem. I behind a WRT300N router, trying to remote desktop out through a VPN, not in. Although it seems like port forwarding would not apply in this case, I have done this, inc setting up a static IP. Has anyone been able to fix this issue with version 10 of this app? It works with version 8, and works from my PC using Remote Desktop Connection, so it is not a gateway or server issue.

You should have a word with your network administrator and ask them the question. FWIW I think there's a certificate or a protocol setting that needs to be configured somewhere that will allow your Mac to 'pass-through'. This could be something built-in on a PC or pre-configured when your IT department roll out the setting to their PC clients.
